Codec Requirements

RTMP destinations (YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Kick) only accept H.264 video and AAC audio. Meshcast uses passthrough for video - your source codec is forwarded as-is.

Incompatible video codecs

The following codecs will not work with RTMP destinations: VP8, VP9, AV1, H.265/HEVC. If your source uses these codecs, restreaming will fail.

Audio: Meshcast automatically converts Opus audio (from WHIP/WebRTC) to AAC. No action needed.

Other issues: Variable frame rate, variable resolution, variable bitrate, and packet loss can also cause problems with some platforms. If you experience issues, consider using Cloud Transcoding which re-encodes to a stable H.264 output (paid feature).

Setup

Open the Restream tab Go to the Dashboard and choose Restream.
Add a destination Choose the platform and enter its RTMP URL + stream key.
Go live once Your single ingest is forwarded to all enabled destinations.

Destination limits

Registered (free): 2 destinations
Solo Creator: 5 destinations
Creator Plus: 15 destinations
Studio Pro: 30 destinations
